➤ Check out our new and updated late pledge list here! [October 2020]

Ever found out about your perfect game right after its Kickstarter campaign has ended? Or maybe your wallet wasn’t willing to cooperate back then?

Some campaigns offer a nice little solution called “late pledge”. Comparing to “pre order” button appearing on certain finished projects, this one gets you everything you’ve missed: from stretch goals to Kickstarter exclusive items.

Today we’ll explore 8 campaigns from 2019 that we really liked, and as it happens, all of them still have the “late pledge” button up for clicking.

Shadows of Brimstone Adventures

Shadows of Brimstone: Valley of the Serpent Kings. Trademarks and visuals belong to their rightful owners.

A new instalment in the series of co-op tabletop games set in various worlds. The latest Shadows of Brimstone campaign offered 2 separate adventures: one set in the Conquistador era Americas and the second in a land inspired by norse mythology. Both boxes come with unique tilesets, scenarios, and a set of over 20 minis ready for some heavy dungeon crawling.

Kingdom Rush

Kingdom Rush. Trademarks and visuals belong to their rightful owners.

The game, inspired by a mobile gaming classic, got over 1 million USD from backers. Comic-like graphics merged with an unique take on tower defense genre made for one of the most successful KS projects of the year. The game features a co-op campaign with progressively increasing difficulty and a wide array of heroes to choose from. There’s also a great combat mechanic where you cover monsters with tetris-block shaped spell tiles.

Oceans

Oceans. Trademarks and visuals belong to their rightful owners.

Next title in the Evolution franchise. Amazing, almost psychedelic visuals mixed with an easy to learn mechanics are used to portray the evolution of thousands of sea creatures from plankton to sharp fanged sharks. The gameplay is highly card based, with the addition of many fish shaped meeples. Considering how much fun the previous game was, we can sure expect Oceans to be at least on the same level.

Tiny Epic Tactics

Tiny Epic Tactics. Trademarks and visuals belong to their rightful owners.

There are at least 2 “Tiny Epic…” titles popping up on Kickstarter each year. And they’re all surprisingly unique and enjoyable. The formula gets changed so much that each box feels like a completely new game. The newest instalment reminds me of good old Final Fantasy Tactics from PS1, where vertical positioning and character classes were the meat of the entire strategy. The game, just like others in the franchise, is small and almost pocket sized.
