➤ Check out our new and updated late pledge list here! [October 2020]
Ever found out about your perfect game right after its Kickstarter campaign has ended? Or maybe your wallet wasn’t willing to cooperate back then?
Some campaigns offer a nice little solution called “late pledge”. Comparing to “pre order” button appearing on certain finished projects, this one gets you everything you’ve missed: from stretch goals to Kickstarter exclusive items.
Today we’ll explore 8 campaigns from 2019 that we really liked, and as it happens, all of them still have the “late pledge” button up for clicking.
Shadows of Brimstone Adventures
A new instalment in the series of co-op tabletop games set in various worlds. The latest Shadows of Brimstone campaign offered 2 separate adventures: one set in the Conquistador era Americas and the second in a land inspired by norse mythology. Both boxes come with unique tilesets, scenarios, and a set of over 20 minis ready for some heavy dungeon crawling.

Kingdom Rush
The game, inspired by a mobile gaming classic, got over 1 million USD from backers. Comic-like graphics merged with an unique take on tower defense genre made for one of the most successful KS projects of the year. The game features a co-op campaign with progressively increasing difficulty and a wide array of heroes to choose from. There’s also a great combat mechanic where you cover monsters with tetris-block shaped spell tiles.
Oceans
Next title in the Evolution franchise. Amazing, almost psychedelic visuals mixed with an easy to learn mechanics are used to portray the evolution of thousands of sea creatures from plankton to sharp fanged sharks. The gameplay is highly card based, with the addition of many fish shaped meeples. Considering how much fun the previous game was, we can sure expect Oceans to be at least on the same level.
Dark Rituals
An asymmetric co-op game by the creators of Village Attacks. Dark Rituals tells a story about a medieval world invaded by bloodthirsty witches from another dimension. Players assume the roles of hunters, trying to rid the world of said evils (controlled by yet another player). Everyone spends their action points to perform actions during their turn and “reactions” – while the opponent is acting.
Bloodborne
Latest Kickstarter campaign by CMON takes us to the city of Yharnam. Michael Shinall and his team did everything they could to adapt the beloved Playstation 4 action game into a board game. The core box includes 4 campaigns for players to tackle, with additional ones unlocked thanks to stretch goals (or available for ordering through pledges). The all in option consists of almost 200 miniatures and hours on hours of co-op gameplay.
Hyperspace
Sandy Petersen, known for The Call of Cthulhu RPG and his work on many classic video games, came back to Kickstarter with his newest tabletop game creation. Hyperspace is a fast paced 4X about interstellar conquest. It boasts an unique idea of removing a typical upkeep phase from the game. Players can control over 20 unique factions, although having access to them all requires backing the highest pledge option.
Tiny Epic Tactics
There are at least 2 “Tiny Epic…” titles popping up on Kickstarter each year. And they’re all surprisingly unique and enjoyable. The formula gets changed so much that each box feels like a completely new game. The newest instalment reminds me of good old Final Fantasy Tactics from PS1, where vertical positioning and character classes were the meat of the entire strategy. The game, just like others in the franchise, is small and almost pocket sized.
Iwari
This time Thundergryph Games takes us to a fictional land of Iwari, where small tribes try to survive in the wilderness. Apart from filling their bellies and claiming lands, people from the tribes spend a lot of time researching their origins.Titular Iwari, a mysterious land where 5 titans tread, is filled with unsolved riddles. The game belongs to the euro genre, has a heavy theme and can be played in additional solo and co-op modes.
