Altar Quest is a cooperative fantasy game, where 1 to 4 players face challenges, that fate throws in their faces. This is yet another title created by Blacklist Games, known mostly from Street Masters and Brook City.

The World of Altar Quest
The story of Altar Quest takes place in a world known as Aridika where classic fantasy merges with gothic horror.
Aridika was born many years ago in the minds of Adam and Brady Sadler – the designers of the game. Altar Quest is the materialization of their ideas and an invitation to explore their own world. Each session will let players learn more about its history and its dark secrets. A special deck of cards was designed so you could play the game in the “story mode” and explore the lore deeper.
Altars are easily the most important places in Aridika. They rose to the ground from below and keep pulsating with mysterious energy. All sorts of creatures are drawn to them by strange and insatiable hunger for power. The players will have to examine these locations to find out what’s really happening.

What to Expect?
Altar Quest is a co-op game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, and its mechanics are based on the Modular Deck System known from Street Masters and Brook City. Thanks to that – high replayability is almost a given, just like high amounts of fun. The game offers singular scenarios as well as the ability to play the entire campaign, during which you’ll be able to develop your heroes and upgrade them with new equipment.
The creators are promising a well designed scaling system, that takes the player numbers into account and skips typical card exceptions and bothersome rule additions. Player or players win when they manage to complete goals assigned to them through the quest deck. When one hero dies, the game is considered lost.
The box hosts 127 miniatures that not only depict our heroes and various creatures, but also items important for adventures and building the atmosphere. The remaining components are: dice, a number of card decks, tokens and a board.
Apart from the core version of Altar Quest. each backer will get the Call of the Lunarin expansion by Isaac Childres (Gloomhaven). It includes a new hero, 15 minis and 60 cards.
The Kickstarter Campaign
Altar Quest got funded during the first hours of its campaign, so all that remains now is unlocking another batches of stretch goals. There is only 1 level of support available, so no need for complicated decisions. We either pledge $109 and become the happy owners of Altar Quest in 2020… or we don’t.
The creators are planning to develop the project over the years, so it’s almost obviously not the final chance to get the game. If you however want to immerse in the world as one of the pioneers, and discover its secrets (before some new ones appear later on) – It’s a wonderful time to do this.
