Somewhere in a far away space, a group of space marauders is venturing towards a long forgotten space station called Andromeda. Abandoned by researchers, it seems like a tempting source of valuable resources and materials. That is, until our team of protagonists learns about its dark secrets. It turns out that a while ago something really bad has happened there and, apart from collecting the titular silicon from the remains of the station, players will have to face the dangers left by its former staff.

Silicon Saga by Rusted Gear Games is designed for 1-4 players, with an  option to expand that number to 6. Each of you controls a single character exploring the abandoned facility. The map you slowly reveal during your venture is made of square shaped tiles.

You never know what awaits you around the corner. Some tiles may have the valuable silicon, while others will challenge you with various hazards or let you meet people who have survived in the lab. Sometimes you will also stumble upon crafting stations where you can work on some new gear and access stations which allow fast traveling.

Most performable actions are done by using skill cards. To add more variety, each of them features 2 different things to do: one works during exploration and the other when you meet a survivor or… want to survive something dangerous yourself.

While the goal of collecting resources is always present, the game can be played in a variety of modes. You can work together in the co-op mode, get competitive and try to get the most silicon to win or try the solo mode.

Overall, there seems to be plenty of great ideas featured in the game, and we’re quite hyped about its February 16th launch.

Zombicide: Undead or Alive – February 17th

When we saw the info about Zombicide 2nd Season being shipped to backers, we knew CMON was close to announcing something new. Still, a new Zombicide campaign took us  by surprise, and it was announced only 1 or 2 hours later. Most of the knowledge about the game comes from a teaser, but we won’t have to wait long for the campaign. The launch is scheduled for February 17th.

The newest adventure in the zombie filled universe created by CMON takes place in the wild west. Mixing zombie apocalypse with western sounds insane, but that’s what the fans of the series often love about it the most. People at CMON promise streamlining the rules, so we’re expecting this to be using the system from 2nd Season with some possible tweaks.

Other new features include plenty of new survivors, a wide variety of classes and many new scenarios taking place in the wild west setting.

The Witcher: Old World

We thought that new Zombicide was the news of the week but looks like we might have another contender. A new tabletop game set in the Witcher universe was announced yesterday and will come to Kickstarter this May and ship in April 2022. A deluxe edition will also be offered on the game’s campaign.

The Witcher: Old World was designed by Łukasz “Wookie” Wozniak, known for Valhalla and Titans. CD Projekt Red, the company that developed Witcher video games is also involved in the project, so we’re expecting nods to the trilogy here and there.

The story of the game will work as a prequel to the plot of novels and the video games. Players will take on the roles of young witchers, fresh out of their schools, ready to take on challenges in the era before the Geralt of Rivia was born. 2 to 5 players will traverse the titular old world, hunt monsters and perform other tasks that troubled locals ask them to do. Some cool features include tavern arguments and dice poker known from the video game. The Witcher: Old World will have miniatures, but the majority of gameplay will be tied to cards and creating powerful combos between skills from different witcher schools.
