It’s high time we had a look at how some campaigns ran by our fellow Poles are doing. This time we’ll introduce you to two video games, two sets for board game lovers and some cartoon themed gadgets.
Soulblight
Soulblight belongs to the genre known as roguelike. Story takes place in the Sanctuary where our hero is looking for the Tree of Life. To fit the genre, game generates levels out of random hexes. This makes the gameplay more attractive. The creators named My Next Games (represented by PlayWay) have decided to go even a step further.
First: they put a huge focus on combat mechanics. In Soulblight mashing your weapon fast is not going to help you. All weapons have their advantages and disadvantages. The spear is deadly if the hero can maintain proper distance. Attacking enemy up close will be much less effective.
Second: the authors decided to resurrect the spirit of tabletop RPGs. To achieve this they replaced good old experience points with so called “Tainting Mechanic”. What does it mean in practice? Before entering a level of Sanctuary the player receives one trait describing his character (like being uncouth or greedy). Decisions taken influence later progress. To advance further you’re expected to act according to your traits.

Board Game Creative Kit
This campaign got placed in the Board Came category. The product however is nothing like a traditional board game. Cracow based Game Factory presented us with a creative set that can help you create your own game.
Inside the box you’ll find blank cards, boards, dice, holders, tokens, markers, wooden elements etc. In short: everything you need to complete your own project. The campaign itself was prepared in a way that reminds us of a board game. Backers can choose from tons of expansions (e.g. bigger boards and others) and even more are mentioned in the Stretch Goal section. Interestingly, the idea of creating this very set was born under the influence of game prototypes often sent to Game Factory’s mailbox.

Rick and Morty Hard Enamel Pins
The story about a crazy genius scientist and his grandson is topping popularity charts all over the world. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that there are more and more gadgets related to it coming out constantly.
In the campaign backers can buy enamel pins sized 5x8cm. There are four variants available: Drunk Rick, Rick, Morty and Snuffles. Each of them comes in a color scheme of your choice. One is priced at 9 EUR. That’s 2 EUR less than in regular retail.

Champions of Midgard Official Wooden Insert
In 2017 Czacha Games from Poznan got their hands on the Champions of Midgard bestseller board game’s licence. In Poland it has been released as “Wojownicy Midgardu” (lit. Warriors of Midgard) and quickly gained popularity in the country as well as all over the world. It turned out that after adding a few expansions the game setup started to get chaotic.
Transporting all boxes is not only uncomfortable but also takes time, considering the whole set-up afterwards. That’s why Czacha Games decided to introduce their own box that will fit all of the game’s elements. The idea was quickly approved by Grey Fox Games, the original creators.
The way campaign was written is also worth a mention. Consistent style and easy to read pictures fit the atmosphere of the game well. Same with additional decorations and accessories available after unlocking certain Stretch Goals. Among these you’ll find calcined patterns and viking themed markers (like an axe).

Ultimate Fishing Simulator
Yet another offering from PlayWay we’re showing you today. According to the creators it’s going to be one of the most advanced and realistic fishing simulators on the market. Players will be able to use modern fishing equipment made by popular brands and will travel to world’s most famous fishing spots. But even the latest spinners and wobblers won’t make the fish swallow the hook by itself. To pull up a big one you’ll have to work hard.
Realistic mechanics, good graphics and rich gameplay system make the promises of game’s creators really exciting. It was rated 7 out of 10 by 300 alpha testers. Collected data will allow for further improvements. Will the creators ever reach the 10 out of 10 score? We’ll know it by March.
