Let’s start with a comeback that many players have eagerly waited for. Secret Unknown Stuff: Escape from Dulce has launched on Kickstarter in 2018 and got plenty of positive reviews praising its approach to dungeon crawling and its unique theme. As more time passed the game became increasingly difficult to get and people who’ve missed its campaign kept asking for another one. Looks like their wishes were heard, as the game is coming back to Kickstarter sometime near the end of 2021.

Secret Unknown Stuff: Escape from Dulce is designed for 1 to 5 players and tells a story about a certain unlucky group getting kidnapped and trying to escape from a many floor high alien base. The group consists of all sorts of crazy characters: a 500 years old samurai named Hattori Hanzo, an intelligent two headed cow, a family of alien-human test subjects with octopus tentacles and more. The game is played on a number of circular boards placed on a tower-like structure and traversed as the game progresses. Players fight enemies, collect loot and try to get to the exit on the highest floor.

We don’t know a lot about the upcoming campaign, but the creators are promising the entire box from the first project, an update to the rules and a 2021 launch date.

Beast – September 28th

Beast takes place in a remote region called the Northern Expanse. While the world is already explored by humans and not wild anymore, this vast area is the only exception. Many parts still haven’t been visited by humans and remain covered in mystery. Still, humans are getting attracted to the place and want to make it their home too. Unluckily for them, dangerous monstrosities called Beasts awoke to protect what’s theirs. The only way for humans to fight these is recruiting powerful hunters, specialized at combating this type of fauna.

Does this description sound familiar? The game seems to take lots of inspiration from the popular Monster Hunter video game series. Apart from the backstory, the mechanics will also make the fans of MH feel right at home. Monsters keep hiding and need to be discovered before you can start your attack. Interestingly, one of you takes on the role of the monster while others try to defeat them. Your actions are located on cards that can be used both by hunters and by monsters. Authors mention that proper teamwork is vital if you want to have any success at winning.

Time for another game seemingly inspired by Monster Hunter. Being huge fans of the franchise, we love to see western gamers finally notice it more. And more tabletop games about well planned hunts of huge monsters are always welcome.

Silver Coin: Age of Monster Hunters is set in a place called Atosia where people’s lives are often threatened by colossal beasts born from the plague that once ravaged the land. Your party’s goal will be to hunt these and earn as many precious silver coins as possible.

The game is designed for 1 to 5 players and will be crowdfunded next year. It seems to be quite complex and features tons of mechanics that can get you new spells and other upgrades useful when wanting to defeat all the plagueborn beasts. Silver Coin: Age of Monster Hunters makes players travel through the kingdoms by land, sea or teleports. There’s a system of weather that affects gameplay, a variety of actions to take in cities, a herb gathering system and even mechanics of gaining ancient knowledge that can be used during monster battles. Characters can belong to a number of different classes that play differently. The game itself can be played solo, cooperatively or in a competitive mode.
