How about a new batch of recently announced tabletop game previews?
Today we’ll be discussing 2 projects launching on Gamefound and one Kickstarter funded board game that’s coming next month. Enjoy!
Volfyirion Guilds – July 7th
We’re always fascinated by how Tabula Games tackles their settings. Most of them are located in the very same universe. We have Mythea and its follow-ups, prequels and spin-offs. All of them come with tons upon tons of story including comics that often appear when the new projects are being launched.
The game we want to tell you about is a sequel to Volfyirion, a rather small but highly replayable 1v1 card game crowdfunded on Kickstarter back in 2018.
Volfyrion Guilds is, like its predecessor, a two player dueling game. It’s highly dynamic and thanks to its addictiveness, it usually doesn’t end after just one match. The game is stand alone but owners of the original can use their cards and mix everything together for even more variety.
The story follows the events of the previous game. Newest storyline focuses on five titular guilds established to stop the nobles from ruling. Each of 2 players tries to defeat the opposing guild and tame the dragon which can be a huge asset in this conflict. Players start with similar, simple decks but then use deck-building mechanics to make them their own and adjust them to their strategy.
So what’s new in Volfyirion Guilds? There are tons of brand new cards with new mechanics including lesser randomness, QoL improvements, a proper solo mode, new, portable box and expansions: both old and completely new. The campaign is set to launch on July 7th and the authors promise low pricing and an amazing Deluxe Edition for their biggest fans and collectors.

Lords of Ragnarok – 2021
Let’s move on to Gamefound. Tons of new projects were announced for the service including a game called Lords of Ragnarok, which happens to be the sequel to the beloved and critically acclaimed Lords of Hellas by Awaken Realms. The setting merges Norse mythology with science fiction. Over the course of the game you hunt dangerous monsters, build monuments and more importantly: control core regions to secure your victory.
The game was designed for 2 to 4 players by Adam Kwapinski (Nemesis, Lords of Hellas). Importantly, Lords of Ragnarok won’t be just a reskin. It offers tons of new concepts and mechanics that will make it stand on its own. The Rune System is one example of that. It helps players level their troops and perform some other useful tasks.
Like in all games by AR we’re expecting high quality minis and some of these can already be seen on the official website of the campaign.
Masters of The Universe: Fields of Eternia The Board Game – 2021
