Triton Noir is a publisher responsible for creating the well rated V-Commando board game series. This time however, they’ve picked a cult video game franchise called Assassin’s Creed to work on. Brotherhood of Venice quickly became a Kickstarter hit, so let’s see what this long awaited game has to offer.
Death in Venice
AC: Brotherhood of Venice is going to be heavily based on the former hit from the publisher, namely: the V-Commandos.
The Assassin’s Creed video game had the focus put on stealthy and silent murders, so the board game won’t be much different. The game was created for 1 to 4 players, who will cooperate as a team of assassins, completing their quests in the Renaissance era Venice.
The game will be based around a campaign, and the action will take place months after defeating Cesare Borgia by Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and before the events known from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
Players will have to work together, and use their assassin skills and equipment to complete quests received from the scenarios, while avoiding the Templar threat.
All tests will be performed with dice. We will only be able to defeat the increasingly more challenging opponents by getting better items and by leveling our character (this will allow him gain some new tricks).
Right at Home
The gameplay looks like a good and challenging stealth game, but the question is: will it be different enough from V-Commandos? Can you put both on your shelf and don’t feel like you have two identical games?
“Well I have the Carcassonne core edition, Safari edition, South Seas edition, Castle edition, New World, Gold Rush, Star Wars, Amazonas and even My First Carcassonne (for my grand-grandchildren) so I don’t mind getting slightly similar games at all! The more the merrier!”
We definitely don’t have to worry about the visual side of things. The box is going to contain about 90 well made miniatures, with over 200 beautifully illustrated cards, and lots of additional elements including a “mystery mini”, and about 20 “memory envelopes”, that introduce new elements to the game in each mission. Fans don’t have to worry about the story and the atmosphere. Especially considering, that you’ll be able to climb the highest towers in town, and synchronize memory.

Kickstarter for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice
The only depressing part of the whole thing is that… we’ll have to wait until 2020 to visit Renaissance era Venice in its board game form. That’s when Triton Noir plans to ship their game. And, like with many KS campaigns, there’s still a chance for delays, especially with a project so huge.
If you don’t mind paying $119, you can become one of the first owners of this game. There is only one pledge level, so the decision is simple. There are also some classic campaign add-ons. For $7 you get the Ezio miniature, and the Roma expansion is priced at $49. The expansion adds 4 new assassins and a campaign taking place in Rome, where we’ll have to find a hidden artifact.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice has managed to collect over 600,200 dollars, and there are still 10 days to go until the end of the campaign. Some stretch goals have been unlocked, including a miniature showing a tank designed by Leonardo da Vinci.
