5 Best Two Player Games Right Now on Kickstarter

Games designed for 2 players are quite an important niche. Some people enjoy playing board games with their partner or a friend, and games for more than 2 people don’t always work fine with only 2 players. That’s why we’ve created a list of two player games, sorted by the game length. 4 of them have active Kickstarter campaigns and one is in the late draft phase.

1. Crimson Company

During the campaign we can get both the core game and an expansion to it. The goal is to capture 2 out of 3 castles. You can achieve that by hiring proper mercenaries from the shared deck – and there’s whopping 30 types available.

Intense 20 minute long battles easily have that one-more-game feeling about them. Easy and elegant rule set allows for quick learning and the amount of cards makes the game interesting for much, much longer.

2. Runes of Mayhem

Here’s another card game with a viking theme. This time we have two sides of a conflict between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons – each with their own dedicated deck. The game is slightly more complex and that also makes it longer (40 minutes). We send our troops to fight the enemy and those who survive get the chance to attack the enemy fortress. Gameplay is not that simple and two different factions add replayability thanks to players learning and mastering their skills with each deck.

3. Clash of Minds

A third card game on today’s list! As you see, 2 player games are most often based on cards (unless you count miniature based wargames). In Clash of Minds the gameplay is supposed to last for about an hour. Different player goals make playing as Moriarty and Holmes a different experiences. Simplicity of the rules and the ever changing ingame conditions will make each session different. Stunning visuals make this game even more charming.

4. Our House: The Lore Driven Card Game

This game looks really bizarre… but each to his own. Creators promise a two hour long gameplay based on scaring each other in the depths of a haunted house. Again, we’re dealing with a card game here. Let’s add a few dozens of tokens and some dice. Will this fulfill its promise of exciting gameplay in such a long playtime? It’s hard to say.

5. Stronghold: Undead

Stronghold: Undead 2nd Edition. Trademarks and visuals belong to their rightful owners.

Final position on our list hasn’t even launched yet, but we’re eagerly waiting for it to pop up on Kickstarter. On November 14th a two player game from Portal Games will start its crowdfunding campaign. Stronghold: Undead is a new edition of an expansion to the first Stronghold game, but this time released as a stand alone title. The Undead will be trying to capture a fortress defended by the paladins. Asymmetric factions, tons of components, a huge board and a clash of minds that lasts for up to 2 hours. There’s a lot to wait for!
