4 Upcoming Kickstarter Board Games – November and December 2020

Halloween is almost here and that also means that October is almost over. What board game campaigns are worth waiting for in the final two months of this year? We checked out 4 titles with their crowdfunding planned for November and December. Enjoy!

SeaRovers – November 4th

This long awaited game by Van Overbay is finally going to show up on Kickstarter on November 4th. A highly strategic and complex game about pirates puts a huge focus on realism and historical correctness, which are usually ignored when creating games touching upon this rather popular topic. Cards used during gameplay are filled with real pirate stories that took place back in the olden days. Same with illustrations taken straight from classic paintings.

SeaRovers makes each player a pirate with their own loyal crew back in the 17th and 18th centuries. You adventure through the Carribean and North Atlantic and perform a wide variety of actions and historical attacks to amass VPs which determine the winner. Players can also voyage through seas, collect booty or even overhaul their own ships.

Burncycle – November 10th

Josh J. Carlson and Adam Carlson known for highly popular Too Many Bones and Cloudspire are readying a new game for a crowdfunding campaign set to launch on November 10th.

The story of Burncycle takes place many centuries in the future where robots have become a part of human society. Because of their unique powers, many evil corporations want to manipulate them and use them for their own benefits. Luckily a group of well oiled and angry rebels is ready to take back what’s theirs and attack the evildoers head on. Players (1 to 4) create a special robot-only unit, secretly entering a corporation facility to infiltrate it.

The game is fully cooperative and has a well developed solo mode too. Every round players draw special directives which dictate the types and order of their currently usable actions. The robots can listen to these and adjust their actions and use the directives to their advantage. It’s also possible to disobey orders and do your own thing, although that may come at the price of some disadvantages later on.

The Pursuit of Happiness – Big Box – November 10th

A popular and well received game from 2015 is going to be back on Kickstarter next month. The Pursuit of Happiness published by Artipia Games will get a Big Box Edition filled to the brim with all content released so far: the core game, every single expansion and of course: new playable content for all the hungry fans.

The original game allowed 1-4 players to take on the roles of… regular people. The goal was to simply live a happy life. Everyone starts at birth and goes through various choices (represented by worker-placement-like mechanics), earns education, starts relationships, gets their own jobs and even children.

It’s important to develop your character while doing everything you can to maintain their levels of everyday stress and joy at perfect levels. There are many choices and paths to take, and current expansions add things like local communities, experiences like traveling or even a new career as a criminal. One of the expansions also adds 5th player to the game and we can certainly expect new content on the upcoming campaign too.
