Scorpion Masqué is known for creating hit board games such as Turing Machine, Flashback: Zombie Kidz, and Decrypto. The company has now announced its newest addition to its game lineup, Dead Cells: The Rogue-Lite Board Game. The dungeon-crawler board game, inspired by the video game Dead Cells, will launch on Kickstarter this spring.

Furthermore, the game is a collaboration between Scorpion Masqué, Motion Twin, and Evil Empire. Also, Antoine Bauza (designer of 7 Wonders) and Ludovic Maublanc (designer of Cyclades) have joined the team.

In the video game version of Dead Cells, players explore a maze-like castle as Beheaded, a character with no head, inspired by the Metroidvania genre. The board game version follows a similar concept, with one to four players exploring the always-changing biomes and galleries of the castle, each with their own unique enemies. Players must carefully choose their paths as the castle is in constant flux. If they’re lucky enough, they can unlock hidden ruins, treasure chests, and many more.

Tentatively, the upcoming board game Dead Cells: Rogue-Lite will take 45 minutes of gameplay. While there is no news yet on the pledge amount or delivery dates, gamers who want to be the first to get their copy can opt-in for notifications on Kickstarter.
