Garphill Games launched a new tabletop game on Kickstarter, “Scholars of the South Tigris”. The game is set in medieval Baghdad during the height of the Abbasid Caliphate around 830 AD. It’s for 1-4 players and requires acquiring scientific manuscripts from around the known world. Also, players must balance their pursuit of knowledge with their pursuit of victory points.

The game boasts a unique combination of bag building, dice placement, color mixing, and “workers for mitigation”. It creates an engaging and strategic experience in the gameplay. Additionally, the game features six research tracks, a wide variety of scrolls and translator packs, and a shared resource system that adds positive interaction and tension between players. Moreover, the game’s solo mode is intuitive and easy to use, with four levels of difficulty to compete against.

Players who back the Kickstarter campaign will receive the Scholars 2023 KS Promo Pack for free with every copy of Scholars and will have the chance to receive their game before it becomes available in retail.
