Second half of October is looking insane for people who get their board games through Kickstarter. Some of these projects got their dates announced less than a week ago.
Today we’ll tell you about 5 games coming before the month ends. Let’s go!
Village Attacks: Grim Dynasty – October 16th
Village Attacks by Grimlord Games launched back in 2017 and after a bunch of Kickstarter expansions it’s finally going to make a big comeback on the platform. The campaign is supposed to start next Tuesday (October 16th). What can we expect here?
This time the popular co-op game, where you play as the bad guys, will take us to a land inspired by chinese folklore. Village Attacks will be expanded on many fronts: from new monsters to control and heroes to make their lives miserable, to additional missions and traps.
Backers will also be able to get all the previous products in the franchise including core box, expansions and exclusives.
Zombicide 2nd Edition – October 16th
We wrote about new Zombicide recently, but as it turns out… the campaign launches sooner than anyone expected. Beloved zombie franchise returns to KS on October 16th.
The game will have a heavily refreshed set of rules, new characters and 25 scenario long campaign. Backers of previous entries will be able to get some sort of upgrade kits to use their mini collections again. Newcomers can join straight in as the game will be much more accessible.
Namiji – October 22nd
Any Tokaido fans here? The game might be simple, but it’s easily among best Japan themed entry level board games. I love teaching it to my friends. Visual side has lots of minimalistic beauty, while the mechanics remain unique and not overly complicated.
Why are we talking about Tokaido? Antoine Bauza is coming back to Kickstarter with a new game, inspired by his all time hit. Instead of being another game in the series, Namiji works more like a spin-off. The main theme is new this time. We’re still in Japan, but instead of wandering through the East Sea Road we go on an exciting fishing trip.
Namiji, similarly to its older brother, has players traverse a linear route. This time however it’s circle shaped (instead of a straight line). This way players can swim around the archipelago and visit various fishing spots all over the place.
The game can be played by 2-5 players and takes up to 45 minutes per one game.
During your journey you have to land on fishing areas and use your abilities to get the best catches available. The turn order system is returning from Tokaido (last player moves first), but the pace of the game is different, as players can now choose their spots in “queues”. Fans of Tokaido or everything Japanese should definitely check this one out.
Beyond Humanity: Colonies – October 22nd
We wrote about this project a few weeks ago, and it’s finally ready for funding. The campaign starts on October 22nd.
Beyond Humanity: Colonies is a game about building a base on a distant planet. One of the main attractions is the NFC card system – individual cards can be scanned by sensors hidden in building minis. BH:C is heavily automated thanks to the app, which uses technology to make a pretty complex euro game into something even casual players can tackle.
If you want to see the draft: it’s here.
Vengeance: Director’s Cut – October 31st
Another big comeback this month. The campaign will include not only the deluxe edition of the original game, but add a whole new expansion for all fans of Vengeance.
Vengeance, as the name implies, is a game about making people who hurt you pay. Your character was tortured by criminals and wants to get them for what they did. The game consists of fighting in various gang dens to look for said criminals and powering up your characters through training.
The new expansion makes the game even more like an 80s action movie. Players will be able to interchangeably control “the director” who’s able to affect the game’s fighting scenes by switching various things in them. This increases player interaction by miles. There will also be a new gang included and a new character for you to choose.
