3 Upcoming Kickstarter Board Games for Early 2020

Neo-Morphosis, Masters of the Night, Viscounts of the West Kingdom

The new year is about to begin, we’re all full of holiday food and had enough break to reset our engines. Time for a fresh batch of newest upcoming campaigns – all planned for January through March. Enjoy!

Neo-Morphosis – January 8th

Coming to Kickstarter as soon as January 8th, it’s a new board game by Filippo Chirico and Dark Gate Games. The same team who gave us Dark Rituals and The Order of Vampire Hunters.

Neo-Morphosis is a game set in the 22nd century. Earth went through a number of climatic crises. First – it got incredibly hot. Few decades later it finally chilled thanks to the efforts of humanity’s best scientists. Sadly, in the end the temperature got too low and now humans are facing another crisis, this time the globe is too frigid for our species. If that wasn’t enough, there’s a horde of aliens coming and they don’t come in peace.

Meanwhile, a special unit was assembled. Their task is to find a way to move Earth’s  population to another planet.

Neo-Morphosis is a fully cooperative game for 1 to 4 players with a modular board. There will be a number of ways to play including small scale scenarios and multiple story campaigns. Players will fight aliens and try to save the research facilities where they’re stationed.

A cooperative game about vampires is coming to Kickstarter a week later – on January 14th. The world of Masters of the Night is ruled by ancient vampire families who control the cities and wage an endless battle with each other. And that’s only one conflict you have to deal with. Dangerous inquisition is monitoring vampire activity all over the world and doesn’t hesitate to take action. To win, players will have to fight said inquisition and prepare a special ritual that will make the city theirs once and for all.

In Masters of the Night the board is modular and assembled every time you play. Gameplay was designed for 1 to 5 players, but according to the creators: when the numbers are smaller, one player can control multiple vampires at once. Different characters will come with their own variable powers.

Viscounts of the West Kingdom – March 2020

If you’re a fan of Paladins or Architects of the West Kingdom by Garphill Games – there’s a real treat coming for you. In March 2020 a third game in the series is supposed to launch on Kickstarter. The visual side, like always, will be prepared by the amazing Mihajlo “Mico” Dimitrievski. So what can we expect here?

The action takes place near the end of 10th century in Europe during a crisis of monarchy. Every player takes on the role of a viscount and has to find a balance between satisfying both the king as well as the regular people of the kingdom. You have to perform a wide variety of tasks to gain points and become victorious. These include everything from working on getting new land to building new city structures. Authors promise that the game will be somewhere between two previous installments when it comes to weight. Fans of the series will certainly not be disappointed. We can’t wait!
